Cocktail Land for iPhone and iPad, and mjabbari.com/cocktailland · Effective 21 October 2026
The short version
No account, no sign-up. We never ask for your name, email, phone number, contacts, photos or location.
Your favourites, bar shelves, shopping list and settings stay on your device. We don't receive them.
The free version shows Google AdMob ads, which follow the consent choices you make in the App and Apple's tracking prompt.
We do not use analytics or crash-reporting tools of our own.
Purchases go through Apple. We never see your payment details.
We do not run our own servers for the App, and we do not sell your personal information for money.
1. Scope
Cocktail Land (the “App”) and the website at mjabbari.com/cocktailland, including the shared shopping-list page (the “Site”), are published by their developer (“we”, “us”, “our”). This policy applies only to the App and the Site. It does not apply to Apple, Google, RapidAPI, TheCocktailDB, TheMealDB, YouTube or any other third-party service, website or advertisement, each of which is governed by its own privacy policy. This policy explains what information is processed when you use the App on iOS or iPadOS or visit the Site; why it is processed; who receives it; and the choices you have. It should be read together with our Terms of Use.
2. What we don't collect
The App has no user accounts and no backend of our own. We do not ask for, and the App does not collect:
your name, email address, phone number or postal address;
your contacts, photos, camera, microphone, calendar or files;
your GPS or precise location;
health, biometric, financial or government-ID information.
If you email us, for example through Contact support in the App, we receive your email address and whatever you choose to include. We use it only to reply and to keep a record of the conversation.
3. Stored only on your device
The following is stored locally on your device and is never sent to us:
favourite drinks and the bottles and shelves you add to My Bar;
your shopping list, ticked items and quick lists;
settings such as appearance, measurement units and serving sizes;
a cache of recipes and images, so the App works quickly and partly offline.
Deleting the App deletes all of it. Your device's own backups (for example iCloud Backup) may include it, under your backup settings with Apple. We cannot see, restore or recover this information.
4. Advertising (Google AdMob)
The free version of the App shows banner and occasional full-screen ads served by Google AdMob. To show, measure and limit ads and to prevent fraud, Google may collect:
your device's advertising identifier (IDFA), only where you allow it;
your IP address, which gives an approximate (city-level) location;
device and app information;
how you interact with ads.
Consent. Where the law requires it, for example in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, you are first shown Google's consent form, managed through Google's User Messaging Platform. The advertising identifier is used only if you allow tracking in Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt. If you don't, ads are still shown but are not personalised using that identifier.
Change your choices at any time:
in the App, under Settings → Privacy choices (where it applies in your region);
on your device, under Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking.
The App does not include any analytics or crash-reporting software of our own, and we do not build profiles of how you use it. If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings (Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements), Apple may give us anonymous, aggregated crash reports and usage statistics under Apple's own privacy policy. We cannot identify you from them.
6. Purchases and reviews
The optional “Remove ads” purchase and the Cocktail Land Premium subscription are processed by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit. We never receive your name, payment card or billing details. The App only asks Apple whether a purchase or subscription is active on your Apple account. Subscriptions are managed and cancelled in your Apple account settings. If the App asks you for a rating, the system review prompt is shown by Apple, and your review is handled under Apple's terms.
7. Recipe and content services the App connects to
To show you drinks, ingredients and food pairings, the App connects directly from your device to the services below. Like any internet request, each one receives standard technical information: your IP address, the time of the request, and basic device and app information. When you search, the words you type and the ingredient names you look up are sent to the recipe service so it can return results. We do not control how these services process information. Their own privacy policies apply.
Service
Why
RapidAPI
Carries the App's requests to the recipe databases below.
TheCocktailDB
Drink recipes, ingredients, photos and search.
TheMealDB
Food pairings and meal recipes.
YouTube
Opens a recipe or meal video, where one exists, if you choose to watch it.
Links you open from the App, such as videos or the App Store, load on those services' websites or apps under their own terms and privacy policies.
8. Shared shopping lists
When you tap Send list, the App creates a link to mjabbari.com/cocktailland/list/ and hands it to the share sheet. The items on your list (names, quantities and units) are written into the part of the link after the “#” sign. Browsers do not send that part to our server, so the list is not received, stored or logged by us. Anyone who has the link can read the list, so share it only with people you choose. The person you send it to can tick items off; their ticks are saved only in their own browser.
9. Widgets
The Cocktail Land home-screen widget fetches the drink of the day directly from the recipe service, in the same way as the App. No information about you is sent to us.
10. This website
The Site has no sign-up and uses no advertising or analytics cookies.
Our hosting provider keeps standard server logs: IP address, pages requested, time, browser and referrer. These are used for security and for running the Site.
The shared shopping-list page loads ingredient photos from TheCocktailDB, directly from your browser. Those requests carry your IP address.
Items you tick on a shared list are remembered in your browser's local storage. They never leave your device.
11. Legal bases
Where data-protection laws require a legal basis, we rely on:
your consent, for personalised advertising and tracking where consent is required. You can withdraw it at any time, as explained in section 17;
our legitimate interests in providing a working, secure, free app and preventing ad fraud, balanced against your rights;
performing our agreement with you, such as delivering the features you use and honouring a purchase;
legal obligations, where we must keep or disclose information by law.
We aim to comply with the UAE Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021 on the Protection of Personal Data, and, where they apply to you, the EU and UK GDPR and U.S. state privacy laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA).
12. Sharing and selling
We do not sell your personal information for money, and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers described in this policy (Google, Apple and the content services). We may also disclose information where the law, a court or a government authority requires it, or to protect our rights, users or the public.
Under some U.S. state laws, letting an ad network use your advertising identifier for personalised ads may count as “sharing” or “selling” for targeted advertising. You can opt out by declining tracking or personalised ads in the App's privacy choices or your device settings, or by buying “Remove ads” or Premium.
13. International transfers
Google, Apple and the content services may process data on servers outside your country, including in the United States and the European Union. Where required, they rely on recognised safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
14. Retention
Data on your device is kept until you delete it in the App, for example by clearing your shopping list or removing favourites, or until you delete the App.
Google keeps advertising data under its own retention settings.
Support emails are kept only as long as needed to help you and to keep a reasonable record.
15. Security
Connections from the App use HTTPS. Your data stays in your device's protected app storage, and we keep as little as possible. Even so, no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of any information. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not responsible for the security of your device, your network, any link you share, or any third-party service.
16. Children and age
Cocktail Land contains recipes for alcoholic drinks and is intended for adults of legal drinking age in their country. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18, or under the legal drinking age where that is higher. If you believe a child has provided information to us, contact us and we will delete it.
17. Your choices and rights
Ad consent: in the App, under Settings → Privacy choices.
Tracking: Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on your device.
Delete local data: clear your lists and favourites in the App, or delete the App.
No ads at all: buy “Remove ads” or subscribe to Premium.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to: access, correct or delete your personal information; restrict or object to its processing; data portability; withdraw consent; and complain to a data-protection authority. In the UAE, that is the UAE Data Office.
Because we do not hold accounts or identifiable profiles, most data about you is either on your device, which you control, or held by Google or Apple under their own identifiers. We will help with any request we can. Email us, and we may need information from you to verify the request. Requests about Google's or Apple's data can also be made through their own privacy tools. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
18. Limitation of responsibility
The third-party services described in this policy act independently and are solely responsible for their own processing of information under their own terms and privacy policies. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we do not control, and are not responsible or liable for, the privacy practices of Google, Apple, RapidAPI, TheCocktailDB, TheMealDB, YouTube or any other service reached through the App or the Site, or for any loss, damage, unauthorised access, disclosure or misuse of information that is collected, stored or processed by your device, your network, your Apple account, Google AdMob, your mail or internet provider, anyone you share a list link with, or any other third party, or that results from events beyond our reasonable control. The disclaimers and limitations of liability in our Terms of Use apply to this policy.
19. Changes
We may update this policy, for example when the App gains new features or the law changes. The “Effective” date above shows the latest version. Material changes will be posted on this page, and where the law requires it we will ask for your consent again. The updated policy takes effect when published, and your continued use of the App or the Site after an update means you accept it.
