1. Scope
This Privacy Policy describes how the Sudoku Portal mobile application for iPhone and iPad and this website (together, the “App”) handle information. The App is published by its developer (“we”, “us”, “our”). This policy applies only to the App. It does not apply to Apple, Google or any other third-party service, website or advertisement, each of which is governed by its own privacy policy. By using the App you acknowledge this policy and our Terms of Use.
2. Summary
The App does not require an account. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos or location, and we do not operate servers that store your game progress. We do not sell personal information.
The App uses independent third-party services (Apple for iCloud, Game Center and purchases; Google AdMob for ads; Google Firebase for analytics and crash reports). Those providers may collect and process information under their own policies, which we do not control.
3. Information stored on your device
The App stores your game progress and settings locally on your device, for example levels, coins, hints, buddies, board themes, trophies, Daily Portal calendar and streaks, event progress, preferences and which purchases you own. This information stays on your device unless you use iCloud (see section 7). We do not have access to it.
4. Third-party services
The App integrates the following third-party services. Each acts independently and is solely responsible for its own processing of information under its own terms and privacy policy:
- Apple: App Store, StoreKit (in-app purchases), iCloud and Game Center. See Apple’s Privacy Policy.
- Google AdMob and the User Messaging Platform: advertising and consent. See Google’s Privacy Policy and how Google uses information from apps that use its services.
- Google Firebase Analytics and Crashlytics: usage analytics and crash reports. See Firebase privacy information.
We do not control, and are not responsible or liable for, the data collection, use, disclosure, security or other practices of these or any other third parties.
5. Advertising and tracking choices
The App is free and shows ads served by Google AdMob, including banner ads, full-screen ads and optional rewarded ads. The “No Ads” purchase removes banner and full-screen ads; rewarded ads remain available because they are always optional. When ads are requested, Google and its advertising partners may receive information such as your IP address (which may indicate approximate location), device and app information, ad interactions and diagnostic data, and use it to deliver and measure ads and prevent fraud.
- App Tracking Transparency: the advertising identifier (IDFA) is available only if you allow tracking in Apple’s prompt. You can change this at any time in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking.
- Consent: where required by law (for example in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland), Google’s consent form is shown before personalized ads are requested. Where it applies to you, the privacy choices can be reopened from the App’s Settings.
Declining tracking or personalization does not prevent you from using the App; you may still see non-personalized ads. Advertisements, advertisers and any websites or offers they link to are third-party content for which we accept no responsibility.
6. Analytics and crash reports
The App uses Google Firebase Analytics to understand how it is used (for example which modes and difficulty levels are started and completed), and Firebase Crashlytics to receive crash reports (device model, iOS version, app version and technical crash details). Firebase may process an app-instance identifier, device and operating-system information and an approximate location derived from your IP address. This information is used in aggregate to improve and maintain the App, and is processed by Google under its own terms.
7. iCloud, Game Center and purchases
iCloud: if you are signed in to iCloud, the App saves your progress to your own iCloud account using Apple’s iCloud key-value storage so it can be restored on your other devices. This data is stored by Apple; we cannot access it. You can turn iCloud off for the App in iOS Settings.
Game Center: if you are signed in, scores and achievements are submitted to Apple Game Center, and your Game Center name and avatar may be visible to other players according to your Game Center settings.
Purchases: all in-app purchases and payments are processed by Apple. The App receives only the transaction information needed to deliver and restore purchases. We never receive your payment card details.
8. Support emails
If you choose to contact us by email (for example via Feedback in the App’s Settings), we receive your email address, your message and anything you attach, and use them only to respond and to improve the App. Please do not send sensitive information. Email is handled by our mail provider under its own terms.
9. This website
This website is hosted by a third-party hosting provider, which may automatically record technical information (such as IP address, date and time, page requested and browser type) in server logs for delivery and security. The website does not use analytics, advertising scripts, social media widgets, third-party fonts or tracking cookies. The playable puzzle on the home page runs entirely in your browser and sends nothing to us.
10. Legal bases
Where applicable law requires a legal basis, information is processed: to provide the App and the features you request (performance of a contract); to show ads that keep the App free, to understand usage, fix crashes and keep the App secure (legitimate interests); to comply with legal obligations; and, where required, on the basis of your consent, which you can withdraw at any time without affecting prior processing.
11. Retention, transfers and security
Data on your device and in your iCloud remains until you delete the App, reset your device or remove it from iCloud. Third-party providers retain data according to their own policies. Support emails are kept only as long as reasonably necessary. Information processed by third-party providers may be transferred to and stored in countries other than your own, which may have different data protection laws. Reasonable measures are used to protect information, but no method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of any information.
12. Your choices and rights
- Limit ad tracking in iOS Settings > Privacy & Security > Tracking, and use the privacy choices in the App’s Settings where available.
- Turn off iCloud for the App in iOS Settings, or sign out of Game Center.
- Delete the App to remove its data from your device.
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct or delete personal information, to restrict or object to processing, to data portability, to withdraw consent and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. Because the App has no accounts and we do not hold your game data, we generally cannot identify you or link analytics or advertising data to you. Requests concerning data held by Apple or Google should be made to those providers using their own tools. Other requests can be sent to the contact address below; we may need to verify your request.
13. Children
The App is a general-audience puzzle game and is not directed to children under 13 (or the higher age required in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and it will be deleted.
14. Limitation of responsibility
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not responsible or liable for any loss, damage, unauthorized access, disclosure or misuse of information that is collected, stored or processed by your device, your Apple Account, iCloud, Game Center, Google AdMob, Google Firebase, your mail or internet provider, or any other third party, or that results from events beyond our reasonable control. The limitations of liability in our Terms of Use apply to this policy.
15. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy at any time. The updated version takes effect when published on this page, with the “Last updated” date above. Your continued use of the App after an update means you accept the updated policy.
16. Contact
